Craft Project #3
Chris Kula’s only pair of flannel pajama bottoms recently succumbed to a rare, incurable wasting disease and were laid to rest in the kitchen trash can. The timing could not have been worse, since we are in the midst of a particularly brutal winter here in Los Angeles. Overnight temperatures are expected to get all the way down to 64 degrees tonight! Something needed to be done!
Target only had sizes XS and XXL and TJ Maxx only the kind of casual pants you tear off when the coach puts you into the game, so I decided I would put my recent sewing lessons to use and make him some new ones. The only fabric store near me is the JoAnne’s in Glendale, which is beloved by the Older Armenian Lady demographic, but loathed by the Sussy demographic, due to its griminess and picked-over-ness. You will never be able to find four matching buttons there, but they are good for deeply-discounted clearance fabrics. Case in point: this adorable Halloween-themed flannel which I picked up for just $1.50/yard! A couple hours later, CKula had a new pair of pajamas and a new zest for life, as evidenced by his sassy stance in these photos.
